4 Things to Consider When Buying Your Bedsheets

Bedsheet is a long-term investment, and besides money, a good bedsheet adds to your comfort and the quality of your sleep. In fact, it is better to buy fewer good quality bedsheets instead of buying many low-quality ones. Consider the following four factors while buying your bedsheets.

4 Things to Consider When Buying Your Bedsheets

The Quality of Cotton

The most important factor in any bedsheet is the quality of its cotton. All cotton is not the same. Egyptian cotton is considered the best quality as compared to American cotton. The long threads of Egyptian cotton produce luxurious and durable fabric. The shorter threads of most other cotton feel coarser by contrast. The shorter threads also lead to pills on the fabric.

Thread Count

Thread count is simply the measure of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. Thread count is not the most important factor, but it is important because a higher thread count adds to the quality and durability of your bedsheets.

Percale vs. Sateen

Percale bedsheets are plainer with a crisp feel. They are cooler and better for summer, or in warm areas. On the other hand, sateen is slightly heavier and feels more luxurious. Sateen is better for winter, or in the cooler areas. As far as the quality is concerned, both percale and sateen are equally good and it is just a matter of choice. Feel the fabric before buying your bedsheets to make the right decision according to your needs and preferences.

Cheap Bedsheets

If you want some cheap bedsheet, look for the cotton-polyester blend. These bedsheets are often advertised as easy care bedsheets. They are easy to clean and withstand frequent washing. They are easy to iron as well. Buy your bedsheet with a maximum of 30% polyester. More than 30% polyester makes bedsheets less comfortable.
